Another Bad Day
I don't think I will ever forget today. I had to do one of the hardest things ever, put one of my cats to sleep. Oreo, has been a family pet for over 15 years. She could hardly walk anymore and wasn't able to go to the bathroom. She lost 6 pounds since June, almost half her weight. She was starving to death. The vet said he felt a few masses in her abdomen, probably cancer. It was really hard and I cried a lot. I watched them give her a shot and she slowly stopped breathing. I just feel awful today, feels like I lost a friend. I know it is only an animal and thankfully not a person, but I still feel terrible. I keep picturing her face during those final moments. Very Sad!!!!

I feel for you; been there - done that. After 11 years with my Shi Tzu, "Chewie" we had to put him to sleep. He, also, had developed problems walking. I didn't want to come home one day to find him unable to walk at all or worse. We decided to "put him down". I didn't think I was going to be able to stay in the room the whole time, but I did. My husband and I bawled in and outside the doctor's office.
After that, I told my husband to "get me out of here." So we went to Vegas and had a ball.
At least you have other pets. We don't and at this point, my husband is not thinking about another pet. As bad as I want another one, it probably is not advisable. My doctor told me, "Let Chewie be your last pet!"
Our pets are like family...NO, they are our family.
Do something you enjoy.
Thanks Leslie for your support. You are definitely right about doing something I will enjoy. I went to a movie and was able to forget for just a little while. When I came home my dogs and other cat kept me busy.
We all went to see the utterly stupid movie, "Blades of Glory". My husband and son both love that crazy Will Farrell. We've seen most of his movies, "Anchorman" was nuts, but funny. Glad you did something enjoyable.
See ya Monday. I know the job, itself, isn't all that enjoyable, but seeing you will be. :)
I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I have two one year old cats.
