Blogging Surprise

Just finished reading "Teens Content Creation" and found the numbers quite interesting. I never knew just how many teens were doing things on the computer. I figured it was high, just didn't realize how high. This relates to something I experienced last week. I was looking over my blog page and reading through comments that people have made and I came across an unfamiliar name. It turned out to be a thirteen year old girl who read my page and posted a comment. I was surprised that someone that wasn't in the class would read or even come across my page. However, after reading the article, it makes perfect sense. Teen girls are more likely to blog and read other blogs. Typically they are reading blogs written by people they know, but some do read blogs of unknown people. I didn't know that.

Often people will follow links on Blogger to the most recently updated blogs -- and then read what you wrote. It's the reason you have to keep in mind that this is a public forum, but on the other hand I think it is one of the strengths. What we write can have an impact on other people.

Show off! You did your homework early, again! HAHAHAHA! One day, I'm going to finish my homework B 4 U. (A little text messaging I learned since getting my new TREO 700P.)

I also think I sent a blog to a lady that is not in our class. She's a hiker and I wasn't even thinking she was not part of the group at the time I sent her the blog. But we shared something in common and I wanted her to know that I too, though not a hiker, did hike the entire Bushkill Falls, Avid Hiker trail, in PA this summer. I am still proud of myself for having done that. When you're overweight, hiking or any strenuous activity is not easy. But I did it!
Took me 4 hours, but I did it.

I had a blogging surprise too. In one of my blog entries, I mentioned how I teach Robert Lipsyste's CONTENDER and how I love many facets of the book. Someone named "Robert Lipsyte" commented on my blog. Who knows if it was the REAL Robert Lipsyte---although it wouldnt surprise me if authors googled themselves within blogger sites, etc. I thought it was pretty cool to have someone else read my writing. It seems to validate your writing even more...which feels good.
